Kodaikanal is a hill city of Dindigul district in the state of Tamil Nadu. Kodaikanal means gift of the forest in Tamil Language. Local economy of Kodaikanal is based on serving tourism.

Our Trip Experience

We five friends decided to visit Kodaikanal in end of April 2017. It was a three day trip. So we booked the car with driver from Fast track and booked the hotel for two night in Kodaikanal through MMT. We start our journey from Bangalore at night 10.00 PM and reach Kodaikanal in morning 9.00 AM.

Before reaching hotel, Silver cascade water fall came, where we stop for few minutes. It was a mesmerizing view.

After reaching hotel, we got freshen up shortly and without wasting any time we start our journey in Kodaikanal at 11.00 AM. These are the sightseeing we have done during our trip.

1. Boating at Kodaikanal Lake

Kodaikanal Lake is also known as Kodai Lake and it is a man made lake developed by the British. We did the boating in Kodaikanal Lake.

2. Bryant Park

Bryant park is the famous botanical garden in Kodaikanal known for the hybrid plants. This park is also the best place for photoshoot.

3. Green Valley View Point (Suicide Point)

Green Valley view point, earlier known as suicide point is one of the famous must visit place in Kodaikanal. Deep valleys and range of hills make this memorize place. You will found market here also.

4. Pine Forest

Entrance crowd and traffic at Pine forest was so much that we decided to walk through the forest and it was the best decision. It was a beautiful place and was one of the best place for photo shoot also as nature is best at this place.

5. Pillar Rocks

This is the must place to visit. It is located 8 Km from the lake. The name is because of the shape of the mountain in pillar shape. this is also one of the best spot for taking photos.

6. Devil's Kitchen or Guna Cave

Devil's Kitchen also known as Guna Cave. It has dangerous deep fall and there are barricades which put restriction to have clear sight of cave.

7. Adventure - ATV Riding

8. Kurinji Temple

Kurinji temple is dedicated to Lord Murugu. Visit here and feel blessed.

9. Coakers Walk

Coaker walk is built on the mountain and it is 1 Km long path. This place is also good spot for photograph as well as for jogging in morning. Here, you will found food stall also.

How to Plan Trip for Kodaikanal

1. See the distance between the source and destination. Based on that, decide your transport service

2. Book Hotel in advance

3. Plan your trip in month of April and May

4. Always keep shoulder bag with you

5. Try to reach Kodaikanal before 8.00 AM and start your journey at 10.00 PM

6. Try to cover all the places within 2 days

7. Don't spend too much time at one place

Cost of the Trip

We book the car and driver from bangalore to Kodaikanal and return also from Fast track. we have been charged around 18000 rs for transport service. We book the hotel through MMT, which cost us 8000 rs for 2 nights for two rooms.

Including all other thing, individually it cost us within 6500 rs.
